Pitru Paksha is the fortnight in which families traditionally perform Shraddha for their ancestors. In Gaya it is the busiest period of the year, and the town receives visitors from across the country.
Plan travel and stay well in advance, and confirm your tithi before you set out. Keep the day of the ritual free of other commitments — the sequence takes several hours.
Carry the names and gotra of the ancestors for whom the rite is being performed. If you are unsure of any detail, speak to Pandit Ji beforehand rather than on the morning of the ritual.
